Guidelines For The Use Of Salcatonin Nasal Spray

Dosage and Administration:Osteoporosis:20ug daily or 40ug every other day, once or in divided doses; depends on condition and patient response.

Adverse reactions: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, mild facial flushing with a feeling of warmth. These side effects are dose-related and are more common with intravenous than intramuscular or subcutaneous administration, the latter being more common than nasal spray administration.

Salcatonin nasal spray Medication Limitations

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to salmon calcitonin.

Precautions: Patients with chronic rhinitis who are using Salcatonin nasal spray should have regular medical checkups, as inflammation of the nasal mucosa can increase drug absorption. Since salmon calcitonin is a peptide, allergic reactions may also occur. In patients with a history of allergy, skin tests should be performed prior to administration of the drug. Salcatonin should be kept out of the reach of children.
