Megestrol acetate oral suspension is indicated for:

Treatment of anorexia, cachexia, or unexplained significant weight loss, particularly in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) or similar conditions where appetite stimulation and weight gain are therapeutic goals.

Guidelines for the Use of Megace

Dosage and Administration:
- Recommended Dose: Megace® (40 mg/mL): 800 mg/day oral (20 mL/day) in adults (often once daily); Megace® ES / Megestrol acetate 125 mg/mL: 625 mg/day (5 mL/day) once daily.
- Administration: Oral use only.
- Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless it’s near the next dose; do not double doses.
Adverse Reactions:
- Common Adverse Reactions: Reported in clinical use (>5%): Nausea, diarrhea, rash, flatulence, hypertension, asthenia (weakness/tiredness).
- Serious Adverse Reactions: Though uncommon, noted or possible reactions include: Thromboembolic events (blood clots), exacerbation of diabetes, cushingish symptoms or adrenal insufficiency with chronic us.
